Hartwell First Baptist Church, all are welcome to our services.
Who are we?
A brief history of Hartwell First Baptist Church
at the top of the hill on Richardson Street in Hartwell, Georgia.
Founded and established in 1862.
Around 1895 the second physical structure was erected on less than one half of an acre.
In July 1981 a telephone was installed and was listed in the phone book as
Hartwell First Baptist Church.
The motto of our church remains,
“Where Jesus is preached and souls are reached.”
Ministries continue to be a focus to address the needs of our community
as God has commanded us to do... to "show ourselves approved.”
Current Ministries:
*Ladies "Bible & Brunch" - 3rd Saturday morning of each month at 9am. Ladies, come join this informal, fun group .
All are welcome, as we discuss God's word and purpose for our lives individually and collectively as members of the Body of Christ. Not only for ourselves, but with a purpose to go "outside the walls" of the church to share with others.
* First and Third Sunday Morning Prayer -8:30am. We come together to pray for all things.
* Annual Shoebox Ministry - Items are collected to send to children in poverty stricken countries, in conjunction with Samaritan's Purse Ministries.
* Nursing Homes - Individual efforts to minister to home-bound members of the community and the local nursing homes.
* "Soup on Saturday" - Free homemade soup to the community, begins at noon. 3rd Saturday morning of each month.
Come by and get a bowl of soup, bring a friend or pick up a bowl to carry to a home-bound or homeless individual.
*On-going commitment to individually increase our out-reach efforts to those in our families and in our community.
Our commitment to reach God’s people wherever they are pushes us to continue to grow and find ways to share the good news.
We are ALL God’s people, and He has given us all unique gifts, please consider becoming
a part of an outreach ministry as God directs you.
Our mission is to continue to grow stronger in faith, be saints for God, practice what we learn and
leave a legacy of faithfulness for future generations.
With God’s help, we pray to continue to be a light, even a brighter light “at the top of the hill” for many generations to come. Through God’s grace and mercy, 2025 will mark our 163rd year as Hartwell First Baptist Church. Generations have come and gone BUT God has sustained us and we are holding on to his unchanging hand!!
